City Harvest

Redistributing food to those in need, reducing hunger and waste

Overview

City Harvest rescues food that would otherwise be thrown out, delivering it to people facing poverty and hunger. By redistributing this food to local charities, community centres and nurseries, they help these organisations to feed more people while embedding sustainability into their operations. City Harvest drivers engage with the communities they deliver to. As well as healthy food, they bring a smile, laugh and chat to build connections with some of London’s most vulnerable and isolated people.

Why we support City Harvest

Food insecurity is a growing challenge across the UK as food price inflation further limits access to quality and nutritious food. 5.7 million families across the UK are skipping meals because they cannot afford to eat, and charities across London are reporting heightened strain as more families turn to them. Inadequate nutrition is linked to health challenges, poorer educational outcomes, and unemployment.
By sourcing and redistributing food, which would otherwise be wasted, to charity partners, City Harvest helps reduce food inequality and enables funds which would be spent on food to be redistributed to other essential services.
