The power of long-term mentoring: The Brilliant Club and Schroders

What began as a planned short-term exchange between The Brilliant Club and Schroders developed into a long-term mentoring relationship with lasting impact.

Sabrina Luisi, Chief Engagement Officer at The Brilliant Club, was introduced to Rachel Harris, Chief of Staff to the CEO at Schroders, through Social Business Trust. Initially expecting a small number of focused conversations, Sabrina instead found a consistent and trusted sounding board.

Their discussions have ranged from high-level communication strategy to navigating complex leadership challenges. At key moments, Rachel has helped Sabrina think through tone, audience and approach, offering practical insight drawn from her own experience.

Equally important has been the continuity of the relationship. “The benefit of working with somebody over a long period of time is that they can remind you of the progress you have made,” Sabrina says, describing the role mentoring has played in building confidence as well as capability.

The exchange has been mutually valuable. Rachel reflects that the relationship has strengthened her own leadership approach, encouraging greater intentionality in how she supports and develops her team.
